Benefits of Weight Loss Coaching
With the correct professional advice and programming on hand, you will have no problem reaching your goals with us. Dieting is not always as simple as calories in – calories out and our professional nutritional advice will assist you with the best foods to add to your diet and the best foods to avoid and remove from your diet. Dieting does not have to be an uncomfortable, miserable experience where you feel hungry all the time. Generally, most PTs and coaches who are not qualified in nutrition can only give basic and general nutrition advice which cannot help in most obesity or weight management situations.
Dangers of using GLP-1s for Weight Loss
GLP-1 use carries many risks such as kidney injury, gallbladder issues, dehydration, muscle loss, pancreatitis and more. It also has many side effects such as headaches, dizziness, vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea and constipation. GLP-1 drugs act as an appetite suppressant which does not address the underlying weight management issues. Eventually you will reach a plateau of weight loss and will have to stop taking them. Once you stop taking GLP-1 drugs there is a high risk of relapse and hunger can be worse than before. Weight regain after stopping GLP-1s is often rapid with studies showing that an average weight regain within the first year of stopping is 75.6%. Alongside the weight regain, your cardio improvements disappear and return to their baseline values and blood sugar increases as well as your blood pressure and lipids. Due to the stress of this up to 47% of people who stop taking GLP-1s restart the process. Taking GLP-1 drugs without the support of a nutritional coach and personal trainer is extremely dangerous and careless. There is a high possibility that as GLP-1s act as an appetite suppressant, you could easily slip into a habit of not eating enough and not getting the right nutrients needed to keep you healthy. This, in turn, can lead to illness and further health complications.
All of this costs thousands of pounds when you could have just got professional advice and support and made real long lasting weight loss changes.
We know from looking at headlines that people are being led to believe by the mainstream media that GLP-1s are safe for use for weight loss. What is important to remember is that the NHS have only approved GLP-1 use for a very small number of people who have to meet a number of criteria to qualify. The criteria for gaining a prescription from your GP for GLP-1s for weight loss are:
Having a BMI over 40 (>35 if you are from certain ethnic origin)
and Having 4 of the following 5 health conditions
High blood pressure
High cholesterol or high fat levels in the blood
Sleep apnoea
Heart Disease
Type 2 diabetes
This will usually equate to 2 in 1000 people.
As a company we won’t work alongside anyone taking GLP-1s as we are against their use due to the health risk of taking unprescribed medicines. Our only exception to this is if you have met the criteria set by the NHS and have been prescribed GLP-1s by an NHS professional.
If you have weight management issues we can help you lose weight in a safe and enjoyable way and for the long term working with our accredited, qualified professionals who will also help you to make the lifestyle changes needed to keep the weight off once you have lost it.
